Clean it up
February 26th, 2008 by kip0130Now that you have successfully cleaned your desk(s) up its time for those fonts. A messy font bin can decrease productivity and leave you struggling to find the perfect font. Since its 2008 get rid of the grungy fonts that are most often unreadable and swap them with fonts that are easy on the eye and crisp.

“Is your font bin Crowded? mine is!”
Tons of fonts?
Do you have a lot of fonts loaded in your system? I do and its most likely you do to. Did you know having mass amounts of unused fonts can load your system down and make it unbearable to start up. The solution is simple and easy to do. Make a list of all your system fonts (Arial etc) and the ones that you use constantly ( Helevetica Calibri, Klavika, Avant Garde (for me)). Now don’t throw those fonts out of your system forever. Simply relocate them Make a folder in your documents indicating that there are fonts there

A folder for fonts is a great way to organize them along with a font manager
and install a font manager. I simply recommend a little light tool called “the font thing” The font thing is a free light tool that can browse multiple directory’s for fonts and allows for real time activation and installation of fonts without the need to restart your design application. Now that you have your fonts organized its time for some new organic fonts that do the eye good. The Following is a list of fonts and there locations (there all free and legal).

Now compare any of those organic fonts to a grunge font and see the difference. But that doesn’t mean all grunge fonts are bad. This means they have there time and place and in Web Design and Print media but they don’t have an everyday conventional use.
